New strict enforcements will be in place from March 1st, 2018 targeting branded trailers. The fines will be as large as $3000 for businesses so it’s worth taking note of what’s involved. Basically if you have a trailer, specifically for advertising you will be fined. They will consider a trailer that is parked on a main road, not being moved and not being used for commercial purposes as an advertising trailer. If you are a tradesman and using your trailer regularly for work, you shouldn’t have any issues.

Apex Signage has been in touch with the council to find out how strictly these new rules will be imposed. The feedback we got was that if you have a box trailer and are a trade based business ‘actually using it’ rather than just collecting leaves, then you should be fine. They will take things into account such as the location it’s parked, amount of time left stationary, and type of branding on there.
The bottom line is, if you’ve got a trailer and it’s branded, make sure you are using it and it’s moved regularly. Keep it away from residential areas and main roads and make sure there is no debris building up around the wheels.
